This is such a fun post, Yukti. Loved reading about the songs and also listening to many of them. It definitely brought back a lot of memories. As you know Mere Sapno ki Rani is such a classic, we actually tried to enact it. With me sitting inside the Darjeeling Toy Train to Kurseong and Agni riding a bike beside! (He was with a local ofcourse!) It was so fun.
Off late, Bollywood music has been quite depressing in terms of lyrics. What with songs like Sheila ki jawani and Munnis badnaami topping the charts in Bollywood. These songs became the selling points of their films but really lowered the bar as far as lyrics are concerned.

I love this song as it captures the dichotomies of us Indians, our ability to carry the good and the not so good with equal ease. I also like that it is a fun song, that would make you smile in a reflective way, while most patriotic songs tend to be serious.
Patriotic songs really gives you feels and evoke the dish Bhakti in ourselves. Maa tujhe Salam by A R Rehman and Mile sur mera tungstate by Joshi hi is my personal favourite. I still remember during my childhood on weekends Mile sur mera aur tumahara will telecast on DD national channel.
